New Works

Fri Jul 2, 2004, 2:29 PM
These are the new works to be critiqued. If I missed your update please send me a note with a link to the image you need commented on and it will be added to the next update.

Also, I’ve picked up an assistant due to medical issues preventing my being here as often as I need to be, so don’t be surprised if the updates come more frequently and are sent by someone new.

*Please remember to send a NOTE to add your work to the list of updates we send out.

Happy commenting!
Nick

Looking For Opinions

Sun May 16, 2004, 2:33 PM
I’ve hit a dilemma and I’d like to know your opinions on the matter. It seems to me that very few of you submit work for critique and not everyone is actually commenting on even half the works submitted. I am beginning to wonder if it wouldn’t be more helpful to everyone seeking valuable criticism to open the membership back up and pull in more people. The only problem with that, is that there are so many non-TCAG images being uploaded that opening the membership could have me flooded in deviations. I’d have to swim through hundreds of them to find the few you all want me to list. So what if instead we open the membership and require a NOTE with a link to your deviation to be sent to critiquers...instead of listing TCAG in your deviation description.

It would be a little more work on you individually, a lot less work on me and open us up to getting a lot more feedback on our submitted works. It’s just an idea, so I want to know how you feel about it.

In addition, I’m looking for people to submit tutorials directly to me to be displayed on critiquers gallery page. These can be about any art form, any technique, for any skill level. I’d like to get a nice body of reference material here that we can direct people to when critiquing their work. For instance if we see they have drawn a foot way off...we can direct them to the tutorial in our group gallery that explains feet. It would be really great if we could get a few tutorials on critiquing as well, I’m working on one myself, but if anyone else already has something on the subject they would like to share I’d appreciate receiving a note on it.

welcome to The Critiquers Art Group

Sun May 30, 2004, 9:48 AM
The Critiquers Art Group is about visual artists critiquing other visual artists. We hope all members of the group, through critiquing, can help all other members of the group expand their skills, art, and ability. Along the way, we hope to learn to be better people in the art community.

Anyone wishing to join should read and agree to the rules and send a message to this account.

Core Rules of the group are simple.

1. No flaming. This means no snide comments meant to hurt someone.
2. Be mature. If for some reason a critique turns to an argument, the person giving the critique needs to walk away from it.
3. Plan to critique at least 1 work for every 4 you submit for critique. This is a minimum and occasionally it will be checked if you seem to be abusing our honor system.
4. Be nice and have fun. It is meant to be a learning experience not something to dread.

Breaking these rules multiple times is grounds for dismissal from the group. Anyone wanting to join, send a -Note- to critiquers.
